Do I need CAD files for cut/fill?

No — that's the point. You trace the contour lines the engineer already drew on the PDF: existing, then proposed, each at its elevation (the tool auto-steps by your contour interval). Foreman AI builds both surfaces and differences them into cut, fill, and net volumes.

How accurate is contour-based cut/fill?

It's the same method engineers use for preliminary earthwork: surfaces built from the drawn contours and spot grades. Accuracy tracks the contour interval on the plan — the tool shows a heat map so you can see exactly where the dirt moves and sanity-check against the grading narrative.

Can it handle swell and shrink?
