Civil & sitework

From grading plan to bid, the same day.

Upload the grading plan PDF. Foreman reads the spot grades and contours, builds the site in 3D, and splits the cut and fill by paving, building pads and landscape. It measures the asphalt and curb on the same sheet.

It reads the grading plan.

Spot grades, contours, finished floors and the engineer's shading come straight off the sheet. No tracing contours, no typing in elevations.

Cut and fill heat map on the grading plan, with every spot grade and the cubic yards on each building pad
Each tag is a spot grade read off the sheet, with the fill or cut at that point. Each pad shows its finished floor and cubic yards.
  • Existing and proposed surfacesBuilt from the contours and spot grades printed on the plan.
  • Finished floorsEach building pad's finished floor comes from its label.
  • Paving, pads and landscapeRead from the engineer's shading. Fix any area with one click.
  • Subgrade or finished gradeSet your paving, pad and topsoil sections and your shrink and swell.

Asphalt, concrete, curb and gutter.

Ask for the paving and Foreman traces it on the sheet: asphalt as an area, curb and gutter as lines, the islands cut out. You see exactly what it measured.

Quantities split the way you price.

Paving, building pads and landscape each get their own cut and fill, every pad is listed, and the topsoil strip, respread and truck loads are worked out.

How it works

  1. Upload the plans

A vector PDF of the grading plan, with existing grades and proposed contours or spot grades, works best.

  2. Ask for the cut and fill

Tell Foreman "run cut and fill on the grading plan," or open Takeoff Studio, switch to Civil and pick Cut / Fill.

  3. Check it

Flip between Before, After and Cut / Fill. Fix any area and set your sections, shrink and swell.

  4. Send it

Download the report, export the quantities, or put it into a bid on your letterhead.

Questions

What kind of plans does it need?

A grading plan with existing grades and proposed contours or spot grades. A vector PDF exported from CAD reads best. On a scanned sheet, check the areas and spot grades it found before you use the numbers.

Subgrade or finished grade?

Both. Set your paving, building pad and topsoil sections and switch between them. The 3D model, the heat map and the report all follow.

What if it labels an area wrong?

Click Fix areas in the Earthwork panel and tap the area to switch it, for example a parking lot it called landscape. The quantities update right away.

Can I use my own shrink and swell?

Yes. Set shrink, swell and truck size, and the import, loose yards and truck loads follow.

Does it only do earthwork?

No. It measures asphalt, curb and gutter, building pads, concrete and storm, prices them from your own cost catalog and builds the bid.

Send us your next grading plan.

Upload it, ask for the cut and fill, and have the 3D model, the quantities and the report the same day.

Examples are real projects. Names, stamps and title blocks are blurred.
