The computer connection runs outward to Foreman AI's cloud relay. No inbound ports, no firewall changes, no IT tickets. If your PC can browse the web, it can run Computer Control.
All communication between your desktop and the cloud uses TLS encryption. File data, screenshots, and commands travel through the same secure channel.
The bridge is tied to your Foreman AI account. Only your chat session can reach your desktop. No shared access, no multi-user risk.
The bridge app uses minimal CPU and memory — it sits idle until a request comes in. Built in Python with WebSocket connections. No heavy installs or background services.
Individual file downloads are capped at 50 MB to keep transfers fast and reliable. For larger files, use the file-open command to work with them directly on the desktop.
Computer Control runs on Windows and macOS. One-click installers for both. No dependencies to install — everything is handled for you.
Install it on the computer Foreman should control. For office access from the job site, install it on the office desktop, keep that computer on, and keep Computer Control running.
Open a Foreman job workspace and go to the chat message input.
Click the button beside the message input, then choose Integrations.
Open Computer Control and click Download for Windows or Download for Mac.
On Windows, go to Downloads and double-click the Foreman Computer Control file. If Windows or your antivirus asks, choose Keep, Run, or Run anyway only if the file came directly from Foreman AI. Security tools can warn because Computer Control is allowed to connect your computer to your account and run approved local actions.
The terminal opens and finishes setup. It checks for Python, installs Python if needed, installs required packages, downloads the lightweight Foreman Computer Control script, and starts the connection.
If Foreman shows an authorization code, confirm it matches the terminal and click Approve. When the terminal or Integrations panel says Connected, return to chat and ask Foreman to use your computer.
Log into Foreman from the job site. If the office computer is on, online, and Computer Control is running, Foreman can reach that desktop from your phone or tablet.
Ask Foreman to find a document, Excel sheet, PDF, estimate, or project folder on your computer and add it to the current workspace.
Foreman can write Python or PowerShell, run terminal commands, call external APIs, and use local CLIs, SDKs, or MCP servers available on that machine.
Computer Control works while the connected computer is powered on and the connection process is running. The installer also creates a startup shortcut so it can reconnect when you log in.
